Know the Different Types of Dog Training Collars

Choke chain or Slip Dog Collar
Choke chain or slip dog collar is one of the most widely used training collars in the world today. It is made of a chain-and-collar combination that tightens when you pull the leash. This creates a choking effect on the dog. You can loosen the collar by releasing the pressure when your dog behaves or stops pulling.
The use of choke chain collar is limited as it can cause injury to the dog's neck if used for a long time. It's not advisable to use this training collar on dogs below six months old.
Prong Collar
Prong collar is another type of training collar that has been around for quite a time. It is much like a choke chain collar, but its major difference with the choke chain is its touch on the dog's neck. Most common dog training collars have full contact with your dog's neck. But the contact of the prong collar on your dog's neck lies at the tip of its prongs which are quite painful. Despite this, many users of this collar noticed that it produces less physical damage to the dog than the other types of dog training collars.
Prong collars should be used with caution and attention as it has a tendency to stress and cause psychological damage to dogs. These can lead to handler aggression.
